About Dr. Aviv
Dr. Alyson Aviv has a doctorate in clinical
psychology from the University of Connecticut. She completed a
postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Medicine and Dentistry,
New Jersey with a concentration in pediatric neuropsychology. Dr
Aviv has been licensed in Missouri since 1998. She has taught a
wide range of courses at Washington University, Saint Louis
University, and Fontbonne University, and has published research
papers in leading academic journals. Dr. Aviv gives a variety of
workshops and presentations, both nationally and locally, on a
variety of subjects including cognitive and social development,
identity formation, and parenting, ADHD, Learning Disabilities,
Dyslexia, and Autism Spectrum Disorders. She consults with faculty,
counselors and parents in local schools and preschools. She is also
a mother of four school-age children.
Dr. Alyson Aviv uses a careful and extremely thorough individualized
assessment approach to determine why children, adolescents, and
adults struggle at school, in their work lives, and in their
interpersonal relationships. This holistic approach to each
individual, involves carefully integrating data from multiple
sources (e.g. in the case of a child evaluation: parents, teachers,
the child, school records, other professionals involved in a child’s
care) and the administration of an individualized battery of tests
tailored to address each referral question. Following data
collection, and interpretation, Dr. Aviv provides a full written
report with an individualized treatment plan. Dr. Aviv will explain
the sources of difficulties, identify strengths, make appropriate
diagnoses, and provide intervention resources. Dr Aviv
has worked in a range of settings with children, adolescents, and
adults, including outpatient and community mental health centers,
short and long-term inpatient mental health psychiatric facilities,
University counseling centers, and private practice. Dr. Aviv is a
